Description: Student PIRG, or Public Interest Research Group, is a student organization aimed at raising student awareness, participation, and activism in issues of general public interest which are of particular interest to students. Campaigns may include but are not limited to: keeping the price of textbooks and tuition down, saving financial aid from budget cuts, the New Voters Project, campaigns to save the Arctic, and stopping hunger and homelessness. The organization is geared at active student involvement in which each member contributes equally in an attempt to be the solution to problems rather than apathetic contributors to them. The organization will represent a diverse population within the student body and will attempt to approach issues openly and on a non-partisan basis.
